How does the bulb light up your oven and microwave?
When you turn on the oven or microwave light, an electrical current flows through a filament inside the bulb, causing it to heat up and emit light. The filament, usually made of tungsten, has a high resistance to electrical current, causing it to heat up and glow.
This emitted light illuminates the interior of the oven or microwave, allowing you to see the food or contents inside without having to open the appliance door.
Why do you need to replace your cooker light bulb?
The filament inside the bulb could break or begin to wear out with high heat and vibrations. The components of the bulb may also deteriorate as a result of the strong heat produced inside the oven, resulting in a reduction in brightness or a complete failure. Therefore, it is probably time to change your cooking light bulb if it is no longer shining or has grown dim.

Hi Gillian, the lamp may be tighter due to grease from the oven. I'd recommend using a small amount of WD40 to see if this will loosen it.
